It has antioxidant properties, alongside antifungal, antibacterial, antiseptic, anti-inflammatory, and also antiviral properties.

All of these healing properties apply to oregano oil as well. Here is a recipe how you can make your own oregano oil and use it in many, many ways.

Oregano Oil Recipe

  • 3 cups oregano leaves, crushed or chopped
  • 1 cup grapeseed oil, olive oil or almond oil
  • 2 glass jars with twist lids

Instructions

Boil 3 cups of water in a cooking pot. When the water is boiling add the oregano leaves, and turn off the heat. Stir well to make sure every leaf is covered with water, then pour the mixture into a glass jar. Take the oil of your choice and pour into the jar, over the oregano leaves. Mix everything thoroughly.

In the cooking pot add fresh water, and boil it. Place the oregano mixture into the hot, boiling water and let it sit for about 10-15 minutes, or until the water gets lukewarm. The hot water will heat up the oil and will help the oregano leaves to release its natural oils.

Place the jar on a windowsill, or somewhere where the jar will constantly be exposed to the sun for 2 weeks. Every few days shake the jar and after 2 weeks, strain the leaves and keep the oil in a dark and cool place.

This homemade oil is great for treating foot fungus or Athlete’s foot, for easing respiratory problems, a sore throat, repairing damaged skin, and is also beneficial for cardiovascular diseases, as well as arthritis and muscle pain.
