<li><strong>5 cups water</strong></li>
<li><strong>4 lemon slices</strong></li>
<li><strong>1 vanilla bean (split in half)</strong></li>
<li><strong>2 cups brown sugar</strong></li>

<p><em>Always make sure that the flowers are not chemically treated because many toxins cannot be eliminated by boiling water.</em></p>
<p>For best result, pick the flowers during the daylight while they are in full bloom. Put the flowers in a large bowl and soak them in cold water for 10-15 minutes to remove any dust, dirt or to allow enough time for any insects to exit.</p>
<p>Pick the petals, discard the center of the flower and the stem, and measure the petals only.</p>
<p>Put the petals in a pot and add the water, vanilla bean, and the lemon slices. When the water is boiling, reduce the heat and cook for additional 30 minutes. Remove the pot from the heat and let it sit for about 5-6 hours.</p>
