Nowadays it’s not possible not to hear about the importance of keeping your hands clean. As it is one of the most important things when trying to stay healthy and virus free.

Maybe previously you didn’t’ pay much attention on how many surfaces you touch during the day, picking up things, opening doors, holding your keys, handing out money to pay, while driving your car, preparing a meal and a million other everyday habits and chores, but now we have to be more careful while handling these things so we can avoid picking up germs, bacteria, viruses and dirt on the skin of your hands.

Hand hygiene became the number one priority in our lives, even though it should have been always.

Even though washing hands with soap and water is probably the best way to keep your hands clean, this homemade sanitizer can come handy when it’s not possible to use water and soap.

A natural way to keep your hand sanitized and moisturized is by making a homemade hand sanitizer, with a few simple but effective ingredients.

Recipe for the natural homemade sanitizer

Ingredients:

  • 15 drops of tea tree oil
  • 5 drops of lavender essential oil (also you can use mint or rosemary oil as a substitute)
  • ¼ tablespoon vitamin E oil (with this oil your skin will be nourished, but also it serves as a preservative)
  • 2/3 cup – 99% isopropyl alcohol (running alcohol) or Ethanol (ethyl alcohol)
  • 100ml pure aloe vera gel

Directions:

Mix the essential oils in a clean and disinfected container and continue preparing the homemade hand sanitizer by adding 2/3 of a cup 99% isopropyl alcohol (running alcohol) or Ethanol (ethyl alcohol)

Finally, add to the mixture 100ml pure aloe vera gel.

Mix well the ingredients and pour them in an empty, clean bottle with a pump dispenser, so you can easily use the homemade hand sanitizer.

A very important step in making this homemade hand sanitizer is to wash your hands thoroughly, so you can be sure not to contaminate the ingredients while mixing.

Prepared like this you should have homemade hand sanitizer for at least 2 months, assuming that is used by one person.

This homemade hand sanitizer meets the expert’s recommendation about using alcohol-based hand sanitizer that can lower the presence of microbes on your hands, but keep in mind that it can’t be a permanent substitute for washing your hands with water and soap.

Be extra careful, if your hand a very dirty or greasy, the hand sanitizer won’t be able to clean all the dirt and disinfect your hands, in cases like this be sure to wash with water and soap.

Except for disinfecting your hands, this homemade hand sanitizer helps your skin to be nourished and moisture so it would not be prone to cracks, which is also very important in fighting against germs, bacteria and viruses that can imbed in the cracked skin on the hands.

Rub this sanitizer for few seconds thoroughly or let it dry to disinfect and protect your skin.
